Hey Procraftinators! Today, I'm back with another Lavinia World Design Team project! This time, I am featuring the NEW Fairy Hugs Glitter Powder. I decided to pull out an old school technique called Glitter Stamping. Anyone remember this one? It's where you stamp and color your image, then cover it in a double sided adhesive and cover that in translucent glitter.
I started with the Hop, Skip and a Jump stamp from Lavinia Stamps and stamped that out in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I masked that off with some Avery Removable ID Label Paper. After that, I moved on to ink blending my background in Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord & a little Black Soot just around the edges. I spritzed my background with some water and heat set.
Once, I finished with the background, I decided to stamp some more on the background. I used the Star Blossom, Quirky Mushroom and the Mini Meadow Mushrooms to fill out my scene. I stamped these images in Ranger Archival Distress Inks in both Mermaid Lagoon & Dusty Concord. After I finished the stamping, I removed the mask from my fairy and started Copic coloring. You can see the key for my Copic coloring in the supply list at the end of this post.
After I finished the Copic coloring, I ran the card front panel through my Xyron Creative Station, making sure that the adhesive would be on the card front, not the back. I burnished the adhesive down extremely well with my bone folder and then removed the backing paper. Next, I covered the adhesive with the Fairy Hugs Glitter Powder in Translucent Pearl. Once covered, I put the remaining glitter back in the jar and placed the card front into a folded piece of paper and ran it back and forth through my embossing machine a couple times. This helps push the glitter into the adhesive real good. Just for good measure, I also burnished it down with my bone folder. I wanted to make sure that glitter wasn't going anywhere!
I adhered the card front to the card base. I opted not to put a sentiment on the front of the card. Not only because glitter can be difficult to adhere things too, but because I didn't want to cover up any of the sparkly goodness. I stamped the Sparkle sentiment from Lavinia stamps on the inside, which says "Dont let life dull your sparkle" and also added the Quirky Mushroom and Mini Meadow Mushroom as well to finish off the card.
