Copic Colored Mermaid & Cricut Cut Card Layers | Under the Sea Hop | #saturdayunderthesea

Hey Procraftinators! Today is the third and final day of the Under the Sea Hop! The hash tag for today is #saturdayunderthesea  I saved what I believe to be my best card of the three for last. I was so pleased with the way this card came out and I hope you are too!

I bought a digital image from Hannah Lynn on Etsy. Her images are stunning. I will link the image below in the supply list. The image was squared off and cut her hair off on the left side, which I didn't particularly care for for the design I had in mind. So, I uploaded it into Design Space, placed the image over an oval and sliced it. Then, I took the same size oval and flattened the image onto that so that it would print then cut onto that oval. This way, my image wasn't squared off, but instead an oval. I know, silly semantics, but it's more of what I was looking for.
Then, I decided that I wanted some sort of patterned paper or something to go with my image. I had some mermaid/nautical themed type digital papers. However, Design Space was not cooperating with me and was not allowing me to upload them as a pattern, even though they were the correct file types to do so. So, I ended up looking through their free patterns and picking one that kinda looked like water and settling on that. I printed it in a rectangle for a layering panel. For the blue water panel, I typed out "Have a Mermazing Day!" in the writing font Hopeless Romantic and attached it to the bottom center of the card. I had my Cricut write that out using a purple Sakura Stardust Glitter Pen. The last thing that I had my Cricut do was cut an image that looked like mermaid scales. It was the Scallop Pattern #M31E5B image from Design Space and it was a free image, as well. I don't pay for the subscription, so I try to stick with images that are free or from cartridges that I have purchased in the past.

Once the Cricut was done, I took the oval image with my mermaid on it and Copic colored it. Then, I assembled my card. I added some Craft Perfect Satin Mirrored cardstock for some layers and I popped up the copic colored oval panel.
