Sparkle & Shine - A Non- Traditional Christmas Card

I thought for my first few blog posts, I would do some card challenges to introduce my style and give myself a chance to get the hang of this whole blog thing. Granted, I have never done card challenges before, so that is a little out of my comfort zone too. However, I think it will be a fun way to use some of my many supplies and give me a chance to show my abilities, even if there are "rules" that I may not normally follow if I was making a card normally.

Today's card I am submitting to the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge for Challenge #297. I have to admit that I had a bit of difficulty with this one. I knew I wanted to play with a stamp set that I recently acquired - Merry and Bright by Neat and Tangled, but I had a bit of trouble trying to figure out exactly how to place the sentiment that I wanted to use in the spot that the sentiment was supposed to fit in for the sketch.

Here is the sketch that I had to follow for the challenge:

Here is my completed card:

As you can see, I ended up splitting the sentiment, with half of it on my focal image and half of it below. I think it was a nice compromise, since I was determined to use that sentiment and wanted to keep it within the area that the sentiment needed to be. I covered my focal image in Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen in Midas Touch (gold) to accompany what the sentiment said "A Little Bit of Sparkle, a lit of Shine."

The supplies I used today were:
Gifts of Gold {with foil}6x6" Paper Pad by The Paper Studio
Vellum
Sizzix Tim Holtz Stitched Rectangles Set (the largest rectangle)
Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider (Just the Oval from the set)

Thanks You so much for visiting my blog today!
