The First CreateInSpain Video Hop!

Today, I am excited to be participating in the First CreateInSpain video hop! The theme is florals and I did a partial die cutting technique using the Moonflower stamp and die set from Spellbinders. I have a thing for Suns and Moons, so when I saw this set on clearance on the Spellbinders site, I just HAD to have it!

Alright, now that we have that out of the way, I will get to the details of the card, like I always do. My wonderful husband took the pictures of my card. Isn't he a good sport? I was struck down by a terrible spinal headache a couple days before the video was due for this hop. I had the video shot, but needed to finish about half of the voice over, take my pictures, do my thumbnail and upload the video. My husband really saved the day by taking the pictures and hanging my microphone from a hook in the ceiling that was left by the previous owners and just happened to be right above my recliner. So, if you are wondering why the audio changes slightly during the video....that's why. I had to make due and quite honestly, I was pretty miserable, but I made a commitment and I wasn't about to back out, especially since the video was already shot.

Anyways, I show the partial die cutting in the video and it's easier to see it in action, then to try to explain it. What I forgot to mention in the video, was I got my inspiration for this card by a recent Neat and Tangled video I saw done by Carissa Wiley. Our cards are completely different since I didn't use Neat and Tangled products, but the partial die cutting with a moon element and circle die are very similiar and I don't want to take complete credit for that idea.

After I did the partial die cutting, I stamped all the flowers randomly over the background to try to cover up the vast amount of white space. Once I completed that, I decided there was still too much white stpace and that's when I decided to do the ink blending. I started with the yellow to give the moon a yellow "glow." Then I added in the blues and finally some black around the edges to darken it up. I know it seems strange that the flowers are floating in the sky, like stars, but I am calling it my artistic privilege. LOL!

I made this card for a friend who lost her husband a little over a month ago and is obviously still struggling. Her daughter was staying with her, but recently went home to another state to get back to her life. So, now, she is living in her empty house. I just wanted to let her know that she is still being thought of and isn't alone. I, unfortunately, live across the country from my friend. So visiting in person is not an option.
