Light Up Magic Slider Card - Christmas in July Video Hop!

Hello and Merry Christmas in July!

I am back with another video tutorial today and I am participating in a fun video hop! I made a Magic Slider Light Up Card! It's super fun!

In the video, I don't go over the basic instruction of assembling the magic slider, as there are so many tutorials that do a great job of that already. I just go over how I modified/added to the magic slider to turn it into a light up card. Also, how I decorated and finished off the card.

This card and the production of this video was really a labor of love. I really had my mind set on making this particular card. I set out almost 2wks before the link was due for the video hop to make it. First, my Gemini kicked the bucket and I had to send it back to Crafter's Companion to be looked at. Thank goodness it was still under warranty and that I kept my old Spellbinder's Grand Calibur for a back up! Then, we had a minor earthquake. No crafting supplies were harmed in the earthquake. However, it lit a fire under my butt to get my Stamp N Storage shelves attached to my wall, as I have several stacked on top of each other and an earthquake could very easily cause them all to tumble over. I hadn't had my husband attach them to the walls, because I wanted them painted and I got them at the end of the nice weather last year. We have no where suitable in our house to paint them. So, I had been waiting for nice weather to do so. After that little earthquake, I decided NOW was the time. My husband, nicely offered to paint them for me last weekend with his paint sprayer. However, my craft room has been in shambles all week while they cured and he has been too busy working overtime all week this week to put them up. Then, I got a new camera and have been playing with that as well. Which was a good thing, but it's been an adjustment.

Anyways, back to the card. The video, I think, does a pretty good job of explaining how to put it together, so I will leave the video here and list the supplies below.

Using Up Your Paper Scraps - Quilt Cards!

Hey, long time no chat/video!

Sorry, about the long hiatus. I had some terrible, almost daily migraines in May and June. So, I wasn't really doing much of anything, especially crafting. It was miserable! But, now, I am back and ready to get back into the swing of things again. Also, I am participating in a video hop, Thursday, July 25th, so be sure to watch out for that. You do not want to miss it!

So, back to the task at hand. Today's cards are fairly simple and definitely not a new concept, but it's one I consider fun and easy. My grandma's birthday was this past Sunday and she LOVES to quilt. So, I thought I would pull out this old school technique to make sure a fun, somewhat quilt-looking card and use up some paper scraps at the same time! My scrap bin is getting a bit ridiculous. I have a whole 12 x 12 canvas drawer full of paper strips for cards such as these alone. Then, another large basket of various sizes of cardstock scrap as well. So, I need to get a move on using up my scraps before I am buried in them. So, I picked out some burgundy, black and some cream patterned paper strips. The cream ones were from an old Creative Memories kit that came in pre-cut 1.5in strips already. I just cut them down to half inch strips to match the other strips that I already had cut to that size. Then, I ran some A2 card front sized panels through my Xyron machine to completely cover them in adhesive. After that, I got to work making some fun patterns. This is where you can let your imagination run wild. The possibilities are really endless! I only show 2 patterns in my video (at the bottom of this page), but there are so many possibilities that you could come up with. I hope you enjoy!
