Using Up Your Paper Scraps - Quilt Cards!

Hey, long time no chat/video!

Sorry, about the long hiatus. I had some terrible, almost daily migraines in May and June. So, I wasn't really doing much of anything, especially crafting. It was miserable! But, now, I am back and ready to get back into the swing of things again. Also, I am participating in a video hop, Thursday, July 25th, so be sure to watch out for that. You do not want to miss it!

So, back to the task at hand. Today's cards are fairly simple and definitely not a new concept, but it's one I consider fun and easy. My grandma's birthday was this past Sunday and she LOVES to quilt. So, I thought I would pull out this old school technique to make sure a fun, somewhat quilt-looking card and use up some paper scraps at the same time! My scrap bin is getting a bit ridiculous. I have a whole 12 x 12 canvas drawer full of paper strips for cards such as these alone. Then, another large basket of various sizes of cardstock scrap as well. So, I need to get a move on using up my scraps before I am buried in them. So, I picked out some burgundy, black and some cream patterned paper strips. The cream ones were from an old Creative Memories kit that came in pre-cut 1.5in strips already. I just cut them down to half inch strips to match the other strips that I already had cut to that size. Then, I ran some A2 card front sized panels through my Xyron machine to completely cover them in adhesive. After that, I got to work making some fun patterns. This is where you can let your imagination run wild. The possibilities are really endless! I only show 2 patterns in my video (at the bottom of this page), but there are so many possibilities that you could come up with. I hope you enjoy!
