Gel Prints & Geometric Stamping | Use it Up or Dig it Out Challenge

Hey Procraftinators! Today, I am part of the Use it Up or Dig it Out Challenge Hop hosted by Courtney's Cardmaking Hops Facebook Group and organized by Renee at Delaney Jane Cards. So, be sure to check out the group, if you are a content creator and be sure to give Renee some love when you get to her stop on the hop! This hop was designed to get us to dig out or use up some supplies that haven't been loved or used at all or in awhile. I think all crafters tend to have some of those laying around. I know I do!

I decided to use my 8x10in Gelli Arts Gel Press. I got this for Christmas and haven't had a chance to use it yet. I have a 5x7in one that I have used quite a bit, but it hasn't even seen any love in awhile. Since, here it is April and I haven't even used the new one, I figured now was the time to give it some love! I also pulled out some acrylic paints that I hadn't opened yet either. I got some Art-C ultra chalk paints that I bought on clearance a few months back at Michael's specifically for gel press printing and hadn't used yet. The colors I got were Turquoise Blue, White and Gray. I squirted some on there and used my brayer to spread them out. Then, i grabbed the Modern Triangle Stencil by Neat and Tangled (this is a well loved item in my stash, actually) and started some printing. I did some smaller positive prints and once I finished with that, I took a full sized sheet of paper and picked up the negative print all in one shot. I did several other prints that didn't make it in today's video, as I just didn't have time to make all my backgrounds into cards.

I made 4 cards for the video today. The first 2, I decided to use Concord & 9th's Geometric Stamp Set. I got this in a Black Friday Grab Bag and I hadn't used this stamp set yet. So, I figured it was perfect for this challenge. I used the Gina K Wreath Builder to stamp out a fun geometric design and then cut it out on my Scan N Cut. I had so much fun with that, that I created a second, slightly different geometric design for my second card. One was a Thank You card used the sentiments in the Geometric stamp set and the second was a Happy Birthday card using MFT's Big Birthday Wishes for the inside sentiment. These cards ended up fairly simple as I wanted to focus to be on those geometric focal points and the fun backgrounds I created.

Next, I pulled out another stamp set that hasn't received as much love as it deserves - Pattern Power by Altenew. I cut 2 of my gel print backgrounds at an angle and cut 2 Pale Aqua card panels to go behind them. I laid my stamps from the Pattern Power stamp set at the same angle as the angle I cut on the gel print backgrounds and positioned it so that it would peek out above the background once I attacked it to the aqua panel. I stamped the pattern power stamp in versamark ink and embossed it in 2 different Wow embossing powders according to the pattern - Oasis & Under the Sea Glitter. It turned out gorgeous!

Moving on to the inside of the card, I pulled out a brand new stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called You Matter & I created the sentiment "I think you are pretty amazing." Then, I used the modern triangle stencil fro Neat & Tangled to lightly ink over the inside of the card from the top right corner in Broken China and Weathered Wood and faded it out towards the left of the card.

Next, I attached the aqua panel to the card base and popped up the gel printed panel on the card. I attached the sentiment "Sending Hugs" from Tonic Craft Kit #22. I cut that fro the same Pale Aqua cardstock and cut the shadow from some vellum. I finished the card off with some Nuvo Pure Sheen Sequins in Silver Rain and put Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew in the center of them.
